Great fan except for this one thing
This is a great ceiling fan, it's whisper quiet and modern but if it's going to be your primary light source I would avoid it like the plague. The 2700k bulb gives everything a fluorescent orange glow. Any replacement bulbs will have to be ordered online because it is a special low profile twist and lock CFL which is only made in warm white.

the remote is the problem
It's hard to put into words how much I regret buying this product, but to be fair, the problem is really the remote-switch system. Buying a fan with a remote switch is a HUGE mistake. I've been up on the ladder three times now, hoisting the 40-pound fan in the front room while trying to insert a screw at the same time, because I had to change the dip switch settings because somebody in the neighborhood got a fan, garage door opener, or whatever on the same frequency. Their signal would turn my fan or my light on or off, over and over. So there's that. (I'm not the only one with this story btw.) Then, I'm off to Radio Shack buying batteries (not your AA or AAA's, oh no - more expensive and hard-to-find ones) because the batteries in the remote don't last very long.
Get a fan with a wall switch. You won't know what you're missing, and that's a good thing.
great, after install
The fan looks and works great now, but it was not fun to install. I have an old-style metal electrical box in the ceiling that is braced to the ceiling joists on either side. Well, this fan install requires screwing wood screws into a structural member above the box, which I did not have. So I installed one. Next, I discovered that the old box was more narrow than newer boxes, which the fan connector plate could not account for and it was deep, which the wood screws could not account for. I ended up having to make a run to the home improvement store to buy 4" screws and then retrofit the fan connector plate to accept them. If this does not sound like fun to you, make sure you have a new electrical box or steer clear of Hunter.
